Trimble prints no price for B2W Estimate on the pages read on 1 October 2026. The product page lists three editions under “Plans and pricing”, Basic, Professional and Enterprise, each with a “Talk to us” button and no figure, and the B2W Software page offers pricing on request. On terms, Trimble’s own pages point two ways: its “B2W vs HCSS” page speaks of “Subscription-based pricing and cloud deployment”, while its help center says B2W Estimate licenses do not expire; neither says which applies to a new purchase. Trimble offers a demo, and no free trial was found on its pages. An older B2W article on what estimating software costs could not be opened, so whether it once gave a figure is not known.
Other sites print figures Trimble does not, and they disagree even on the unit: $5,500 per user for a perpetual license, $5000 per installation, $2,500 a month. None names a source. On Software Advice and Capterra, which each list 201 reviews, reviewers praise the support, how easy everyday estimating is and the tools for vendor and subcontractor quotes; the complaints that recur are the time it takes to get started, the missing undo button, slowness over off-site connections and exports to accounting that need manual work, and several call the licenses, modules or annual maintenance expensive. Nobody at Calcumetryx has used B2W Estimate: this page is research, and the lines below say what it rests on.

+−What each line covered, and when
- Vendor documentation researched: Yes
- Read on 1 October 2026 in Trimble’s public help center for B2W Estimate (help.trimble.com): the editions page, the release notes for version 26.1, the item pricing tab, the Washington State DOT import and export routine, the add-ins index, mobile estimating and the activation dialog; and Trimble’s “B2W Software Resource Requirements & Recommendations”, version 2025.01, dated 3/3/2025.
- Pricing researched: Yes
- Read on 1 October 2026: the B2W Estimate product page, the B2W Software page, the “B2W vs HCSS” page, the 2021 article on the three editions, the professional services page, two Trimble landing pages, the help center’s activation page and Trimble’s llms.txt, and searches of trimble.com for price, pricing, cost and a free trial. None prints a figure. B2W’s older article on what estimating software costs, on b2wsoftware.com, could not be opened (the domain presents a certificate for a different host); the Internet Archive lists a copy captured on 24 January 2022, which the fetch tool used here cannot open, so the article remains unread. Six pages on other sites were checked against Trimble’s, below.
- User sentiment researched: Yes
- Read on 1 October 2026: the first page of reviews on Software Advice and the first two on Capterra (25 reviews a page). G2 and TrustRadius refused automated access (HTTP 403) and Reddit could not be fetched, so none of them was read.
- Hands-on tested: No
- Nobody at Calcumetryx has used B2W Estimate. Trimble offers a demo and no free trial was found, and watching a vendor’s demo is not using the product.
- Expert workflow tested: No
- No estimator has run a real bid through B2W Estimate for this page.
A research-based page: what the vendor publishes, what its documentation says and what reviewers report, each with its source and date. What each line requires is set out in how we review software.
What Trimble B2W Estimate is, as the vendor describes it
Heavy construction estimating from a central cost database, which Trimble says comes pre-populated with templates for crews and pay items. It sends RFQs to vendors and subcontractors and analyzes their quotes, downloads a state-specific DOT electronic bidding system (EBS) file, and supports bidding by Work Breakdown Structure. Sold in three editions: Basic, Professional and Enterprise.
Work Breakdown Structure, audit trail and item history are listed only in the Enterprise edition.

The company
Trimble’s release of 14 September 2022, announcing that it had acquired B2W Software, says: “Headquartered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and founded in 1993, B2W (formerly known as Bid2Win) provides specialized software for heavy civil construction management.” and “B2W’s integrated suite of applications includes estimating, scheduling, field tracking, equipment maintenance, data capture and business intelligence.” It adds: “Financial terms were not disclosed.”
Three editions
The product page lists three editions under “Plans and pricing”. Basic: “Task and crew templates”, “Bid and takeoff quantity” and “Integrated change order management”. Professional: “Everything in Basic, plus:” “Unlimited tagging”, “Integrated vendor management” and “Mobile estimating”. Enterprise: “Everything in Professional, plus:” “Work breakdown structure (WBS)”, “Audit trail” and “Item history”. Each has a “Talk to us” button and no price. An article of 26 March 2021 on Trimble’s blog says “B2W Software offers three editions of its estimating software to meet the specific needs of each contractor.”
The other B2W products
Trimble’s B2W Software page sells Estimate as one of six products, with B2W Schedule, B2W Track, B2W Employee App, B2W Maintain and B2W Field View, and describes the set as “Unified software for heavy construction estimating, operations and equipment maintenance”. It says “B2W Estimate provides centralized, up-to-date cost data and structures along with specialized functionality for heavy construction estimating and bidding.”
Trimble’s comparison with HCSS
Trimble publishes a page titled “B2W vs HCSS”, a vendor comparing its product with a competitor’s. It says “Capabilities and cost of ownership are comparable.”, prints no figure for either product and names no source for its comparison. Under “Ownership” it says “B2W is part of Trimble” and “HCSS is owned by one of the largest private equity firms in the world.” HCSS’s own reference page, read the same day, says HCSS is part of the Nemetschek Group’s Build & Construct segment, with Thoma Bravo as a minority shareholder.
Support
The product page asks existing customers with a technical issue to contact B2W support by email or phone “for 24/7 help and support”.

Other prices and terms, in the vendor’s own words (5)
Pricing on request
The product page’s “Plans and pricing” section shows the three editions, each with a “Talk to us” button and no figure. The B2W Software page invites anyone “looking to schedule a demo, wanting pricing or need help getting started” to get in touch.
A subscription, on the comparison page
Under “Flexibility”, the “B2W vs HCSS” page says: “Subscription-based pricing and cloud deployment provide a modern, scalable way to access powerful tools, while simplifying purchasing with one vendor and one contract.” It gives no price, term or edition for the subscription.
Licenses that do not expire, in the help center
The help center’s page on the activation dialog says: “Since B2W Estimate licenses do not expire, the only time you will need to reactivate B2W Estimate is when you purchase additional licenses.” The code comes from support: “a B2W support engineer will provide you with your activation code.” Neither this page nor the comparison page says which model applies to a new purchase today, and neither prints a price for a license or an additional seat.
What else must be licensed
Trimble’s requirements document (version 2025.01, dated 3/3/2025) says: “All Microsoft products and technologies must be properly licensed at destination prior to installation of any B2W Software products.” For installations that run through Remote Desktop Services or Citrix, it says Remote Desktop Services “requires additional licensing through Microsoft” and Citrix Virtual Apps “requires additional licensing through Citrix”. It prints no price for any of them.
Implementation and training
The B2W professional services page describes an implementation in four phases, “Planning and database development”, “Software deployment”, “On site or online training” and a “Go-live phase”, and custom work such as “Custom bid forms”. It prints no price for any of them.
Free trial or free version
Not found in the sources reviewed. The Trimble pages read offer a demo (“Request a demo”, “Talk to us”) and state no free trial.
3 checks run on 1 October 2026
- B2W Estimate product page: “Request a demo” and “Talk to us”; no trial offer.
- Trimble’s B2W Estimate landing page on cloud.pages.trimble.com: no trial offer.
- A search restricted to trimble.com for a B2W Estimate free trial: no trial page among the results; Trimble’s B2W Estimate demo page (cloud.pages.trimble.com/b2w-en-estimate-demo) offers “Get In Touch” and a guide, and no trial.
A demo, not a trial
The B2W Estimate product page offers “Request a demo”, “Talk to us” and “Talk to sales”, and the word “trial” does not appear on it. Trimble’s B2W Estimate page on cloud.pages.trimble.com, headed “Win More Jobs At Better Margins”, offers “Get In Touch” and a guide, and mentions no trial. A search of trimble.com for a B2W Estimate free trial, on 1 October 2026, found no trial page.
What the documentation shows
Read in the vendor’s public help pages, which go further than its product and pricing pages: how the product is installed and run, and how a feature works in practice.
- Workstation
- “Windows 10 – 11”, 4 CPU cores, “4 GB” of memory and “10 GB” of disk, in the requirements of March 2025 source
- Version 26.1
- “Dropped support for Windows 10.” and “Dropped support for SQL 2016.” source
- Database
- “Microsoft SQL Server as their database engine”, versions 2016 – 2022; SQL Server Express is “not supported for user counts beyond five (5)” source
- Server
- “Windows Server 2016 – 2025”; up to 100 users on one server dedicated to B2W, from 4 cores, 8 GB of memory and 250 GB of storage source
- Single user
- A stand-alone installation adds Microsoft SQL Server and Reporting “2016 – 2022 Express” source
- Offline use
- Estimates checked out to a laptop: “You can then work on them while disconnected from your B2W Estimate server.” source
- Internet
- Estimate uses services that “require external access to cloud-based HTTPS connections” source
- Cloud hosting
- The document addresses B2W hosted “in cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google)”: a shut-down virtual machine can require “license re-activation” source
Features by edition
The help center’s editions page says “B2W Estimate is available in Basic, Professional, and Enterprise editions, each offering different levels of functionality for estimating and resource management.” Under “Enterprise Only” it lists, among others, “Multiple Database Support”, “Audit Trail”, “WBS Levels” and “B2W Management Reporting”; under “Professional or Enterprise Only”, “Mobile Estimating”, “Integrated Subcontractor and Vendor RFQ Management” and “Tags”. The page says nothing about price.
Closing a bid
The help center says “The Item Pricing tab represents the final step in the bid closing process.” and “This is typically where your final distributions are performed, and where you may tweak the unit prices for the pay items in your estimate.” Its main goal, the page says, is to bring the current bid price as close as possible to a target bid price by distributing amounts automatically, and one command sets every pay item’s unit price, except locked items, to its balanced price.
DOT bid files and accounting exports
The Washington State routine “allows you to import the Washington State CSV file to your estimate, then export the finished price list back to the WADOT utility so that they can be uploaded to WADOT.” The add-ins index, which says add-ins include “DOT databases, accounting exports, and custom reporting tools”, lists routines for Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland (MDSHA), Mass Highway, Minnesota, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Texas and Utah (UDOT) as well, and exports for QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor and Microsoft Dynamics SL. It does not say whether add-ins cost extra.
The requirements, in the vendor’s own sentences (1)
Version 26.1
The release notes, “What’s New in B2W Estimate 26.1”, list under “Changes in Behavior”: “Dropped support for Windows 10.”, “Dropped support for SQL 2016.” and “Removed the ability to send bid forms and RFQs via Fax.” They also say “B2W Estimate now hosts its help content online for browser access.” The page gives no release date.
- No release date for version 26.1 was found: its release notes give none, and their only date is the modified date, 24 September 2026, which every help page read shows.
- The 2021 article on the three editions is a short post around a video: its text says only that there are three editions and that a product manager explains the differences, so the editions here are taken from the product page and the help center.
- The requirements document points to further guides “available at the B2W Community Portal”, among them a SQL Server configuration and performance guide; they were not read.
- The download page for B2W Estimate requires signing in, so nothing behind it was read.
What users report
Read on 1 October 2026: the first page of B2W Estimate reviews on Software Advice and the first two pages on Capterra, 25 reviews a page, dated August 2010 to August 2026 and mostly from 2015 to 2023. Both sites list 201 reviews, and many appear on both under the same title; a few, from 2010 to 2016, use the product’s old name, Bid2Win. Support and how easy everyday estimating is are the most frequent praise, though two recent reviews on Capterra, from 2025 and 2026, criticize support, one saying it has declined since the acquisition. The complaints that recur are the time it takes to get started, the missing undo button, slowness over off-site connections and on large bids, and exports to accounting systems that need manual work. Price comes up in a minority of the reviews, mostly as a complaint about licenses, extra modules, annual maintenance or training charges. These are reviewers’ reports, not findings: nobody at Calcumetryx has used B2W Estimate, and no site’s star average is repeated here.

Points several reviewers make
Sending requests for quotes and comparing vendor and subcontractor quotes side by side save time.
Software AdviceCapterra
There is no undo button, a complaint that recurs in reviews from 2015 to 2025.
Software AdviceCapterra
It slows down over off-site server connections and on large bids with hundreds of items.
Software AdviceCapterra
Several reviewers call it expensive: licenses and extra modules (one names the vendor and subcontractor RFQ suite), annual maintenance fees, and charges for training and setup. One finds it good value for how easy it is to use.
Software AdviceCapterra
Everyday estimating is easy to learn and use, but getting started takes a lot of time and effort: building the database, implementing the system and learning every feature.
Software AdviceCapterra
Support answers quickly and knows the product, for most reviewers who mention it; two recent reviews on Capterra criticize it, one saying it has declined since the acquisition.
Software AdviceCapterra
Exporting estimates and budgets to accounting or ERP systems works for some reviewers and takes manual work or remapping for others.

Where the reviews were read, and what each site discloses
- Software AdviceThe site says: “When our advisors match you to a software provider, we may earn a referral fee.” Of the 25 reviews on the first page, 11 carry the line “This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.” and one, from March 2022, the line “This reviewer was invited by the software vendor to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.” The other 13 say they were submitted organically, with no incentive.
- CapterraThe page says reviews are “moderated by our Reviews Verification team”. No label about invited or incentivized reviews appeared in the text read. Many of the same reviews, with the same titles, are on Software Advice. Capterra refuses automated browsers, so this rests on fetch-tool reads on 1 October 2026 that agree; it was not re-read in a browser.
Public reviews on Software Advice and Capterra, each listing 201, read 1 October 2026. Most recent read: 1 October 2026.
Figures other sites print, checked against the vendor
None of these is Trimble’s price. The Trimble pages read on 1 October 2026 print no figure for any edition of B2W Estimate. The four sites that print one disagree even on the unit, per user for a perpetual license, per installation and per month, and none names a source. OneCrew and Capterra, the first two results Google US showed for “b2w estimate pricing” that day, print no figure; they are listed for what they say about the price.

What to ask on the demo
Questions the published material leaves open, drawn from the pages above. The answers change the number you will pay or what you will get for it.
- Which edition fits the size and kind of work we bid, and what does each cost per user, per year or once? The product page lists all three with “Talk to us” and no figure.
- Is what we would buy a subscription, or a license that does not expire? Trimble’s comparison page speaks of subscription-based pricing, and the help center says B2W Estimate licenses do not expire.
- What do support and updates cost after the first year, and what happens to them if we stop paying? Two reviewers on Capterra call the annual fees costly.
- What do planning and database development, deployment, training and the go-live phase cost for a team our size? The professional services page describes each and prints no price.
- What must we license besides B2W? The requirements document says every Microsoft product must be properly licensed before installation, that SQL Server Express is not supported beyond five users, and that Remote Desktop Services or Citrix need licenses of their own.
- Is the cloud deployment named on the comparison page hosted by Trimble or by us, and how do price and speed compare with an installation on our own server? A 2026 review on Capterra criticizes the quality of the cloud version.
- Is integrated vendor and subcontractor RFQ management in the edition we would buy? The help center lists it only for Professional and Enterprise, and one reviewer says the RFQ suite cost extra.
- Does B2W Estimate import and export our state DOT’s bid files? The help center lists add-ins for Washington, Texas, Minnesota, Utah and several other states; are add-ins included in the price?
