PlanSwift pricing and review
What PlanSwift charges as its own pages print it, what its help center and its users add, and the older figures other sites still print. Research only: nobody at Calcumetryx has used PlanSwift.

PlanSwift prints its prices. Its pricing page, read on 1 October 2026, lists two annual plans of one seat each: PlanSwift Essential at $2,000 a year and PlanSwift Core at $3,000 a year, with discounted pricing for additional seats. Core adds Auto Takeoff, the AI tool the vendor says builds a first-pass takeoff. A 14-day trial of the full Core plan needs no credit card, and neither the pricing page nor the trial page describes a free version.
Other sites still print figures that PlanSwift’s pricing page does not, such as a one-time license at $1,749, and PlanSwift’s own student page calls the standard annual subscription “$1,300+ / yr”. On Software Advice and Capterra, the most frequent praise is for how quickly takeoff is learned and done; the complaints that recur are slow loading of large plan sets, crashes, a dated desktop interface and support that is hard to reach. Nobody at Calcumetryx has used PlanSwift: this page is research, and the lines below say what it rests on.

- Vendor documentation researched: Yes
- Read on 1 October 2026 in PlanSwift’s public help center on help.constructconnect.com: the system requirements article (dated 1 January 2025) and the user guide’s contents; and the archived EarthWork Pro v3 page in its knowledge base (last updated 17 July 2023).

- User sentiment researched: Yes
- Read on 1 October 2026: the first page of reviews on Software Advice, the first two on Capterra (25 reviews a page) and the single review on Trustpilot. G2 refused automated access (HTTP 403) and Reddit could not be fetched, so neither was read.
- Hands-on tested: No
- Nobody at Calcumetryx has installed or used PlanSwift. The 14-day trial exists and has not been taken.
- Expert workflow tested: No
- No estimator has run a real job through PlanSwift for this page.
A research-based page: what the vendor publishes, what its documentation says and what reviewers report, each with its source and date. What each line requires is set out in how we review software.
What PlanSwift is, as the vendor describes it
Takeoff and estimating in one program. The homepage says you measure areas, lengths and counts by pointing and clicking on plans in “PDF, CAD, and image files”, that material, labor and waste assemblies build the estimate as you measure, and that Takeoff BOOST is “a suite of AI tools built right into PlanSwift”.
Earthwork takeoff (cut/fill, spot elevations and trenches) is a separate plugin, EarthWork Pro V3, with its own yearly subscription.
AI tools
The About page says “Takeoff BOOST™ is a suite of AI-powered tools built directly into PlanSwift”, marked “LAUNCHED MAY 2026”, and that it “includes Auto Takeoff, Auto Count, Auto Scale, and Auto Bookmark.”
Support
The support page gives support hours of “Mon–Fri, 8am–7pm EST”, by phone and by email, and links a public online help center and user guide.
Who owns it
ConstructConnect. The About page says “PlanSwift is a product of ConstructConnect” and that PlanSwift joined ConstructConnect in 2018.
The price, as the vendor states it
- Essential$2,000 / year1 seat · Annual Pricing · Discounted pricing for additional seats
- Core$3,000 / year1 seat · Annual Pricing · Discounted pricing for additional seats
Two annual plans on one page, each for one seat, with discounted pricing for additional seats. The page’s FAQ, asked whether PlanSwift is a subscription, answers: “Essential and Core are annual plans.”
Essential includes AI tools for automatic counting, scaling and bookmarking; Core adds the full Takeoff BOOST suite, including Auto Takeoff. The FAQ says teams buying 10 or more licenses may qualify for volume pricing, quoted by sales. Two more prices appear on other PlanSwift pages: the EarthWork Pro V3 plugin (cut/fill, spot elevations and trench takeoffs) at “$349 yearly subscription”, and a one-year student license at “$250 / year”.
Other prices and terms on the vendor’s own pages
What each plan lists
Essential’s card lists “Takeoff + estimating in one tool with pre-built assemblies for your trade.”, “AI tools: Auto Count · Auto Scale · Auto Bookmark.”, “Priority support: phone, chat, email, and the full knowledge base.” and “2 hours of live 1-on-1 training with a PlanSwift specialist.” Core’s card lists “Everything in Essential.” and the “Full Takeoff BOOST™ suite: adds Auto Takeoff, the AI tool that builds a first-pass takeoff for areas, lengths, and counts in minutes.”
A subscription, not a purchase
Asked “Is PlanSwift a subscription, or do I own it?”, the pricing page answers: “Essential and Core are annual plans. Your plan covers the software, all updates, priority support, and training for the year — so you’re always on the latest version, with no surprise upgrade fees.”
Students
The student page offers “a full 1-year PlanSwift license for $250” (“Student pricing $250 / year”), described as a “Full PlanSwift Professional license”, and says “Verification typically takes 1–2 business days.”
Plugins
The plugins page prints most trade starter packs at “$149 (optional 14 day trial)”, the James Hardie Pro Package at “$99 (optional 14 day trial)”, the General Contractor Starter Pack at “$349” and EarthWork Pro V3 at “$349 (optional 14 day trial)”, with no billing term beside any price. EarthWork Pro V3’s own page calls its price a “$349 yearly subscription”.
Free trial or free version
“$0 / 14 days”: a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. The EarthWork Pro V3 plugin page also offers a 14-day free trial.
What the trial includes, and when it ends
The pricing page’s trial card reads “Full PlanSwift Core: every feature, including all AI tools.”, and its FAQ says: “Nothing automatic happens after your 14-day trial. There’s no card on file and no auto-charge.” The free-trial page adds “Instant download” and a “Free 1-on-1 overview”.
A free version
Neither the pricing page nor the free-trial page describes a free version beyond the 14-day trial.
What the documentation shows
Read in the vendor’s public help pages, which go further than its product and pricing pages: how the product is installed and run, and how a feature works in practice.
Windows only
The system requirements article, dated 1 January 2025, says: “PlanSwift cannot be installed directly on a MAC, you must use Bootcamp (dual-boot) or install PlanSwift in a virtual machine such as Parallels running a supported version of Windows.”
An internet connection for activation, updates and help
The same article: “An unrestricted connection is required for Activating the product, receiving updates, viewing the help files, etc.” It gives 8GB of memory as the minimum and “16GB or more” as recommended.
EarthWork Pro and PDF plans
An archived page in PlanSwift’s knowledge base, last updated 17 July 2023, says: “This plugin requires the images to be in TIF format. Earthwork Pro cannot calculate volumes when performing takeoff on PDF pages.” The plugin’s sales page, read on 1 October 2026, mentions neither TIF nor PDF. Neither page names the method used to compute volumes beyond triangulating spot elevations, and whether the current version still needs TIF images was not established.
A public user guide
The “PlanSwift User Guide” is readable without an account, in 16 chapters from “01 Installing and Licensing PlanSwift” to “16 PlanSwift Integration to Excel”, including “15 Writing and Using Formulas”.
- The Takeoff BOOST FAQ in the help center (help.constructconnect.com/takeoff-boost-frequently-asked-questions-252) did not show its answers to the tool used for this page, so nothing here comes from it.
What users report
Read on 1 October 2026: the first page of PlanSwift reviews on Software Advice and the first two pages on Capterra, 25 reviews a page, dated April 2014 to July 2026, and the one review on Trustpilot. Software Advice and Capterra both list 402 reviews, and many appear on both sites under the same title. The most frequent praise is for how quickly takeoff is learned and done. The complaints that recur are slow loading of large plan sets and crashes, a dated desktop interface, the time it takes to set up assemblies and estimates, and support that is hard to reach. Three reviewers, writing from 2024 to 2026, object to changes in how PlanSwift is licensed. These are reviewers’ reports, not findings: nobody at Calcumetryx has used PlanSwift, and no site’s star average is repeated here.
Points several reviewers make
On-screen takeoff of areas, lengths and counts is quick to learn and fast to do.
Software AdviceCapterra
Building assemblies and using the estimating side take time to set up, and several reviewers find estimating harder than takeoff.
Software AdviceCapterra
Large plan sets load or import slowly, and the program can freeze or crash.
Software AdviceCapterra
The interface looks dated, and as desktop software it offers little cloud collaboration.
Software AdviceCapterra
Long-time owners object to licensing changes: paying again, a one-time license turned into a subscription, or a yearly maintenance fee that rose.
CapterraTrustpilot
Support is hard to reach or slow to resolve problems for many reviewers, while others praise it.
Software AdviceCapterra
Price: some reviewers call it expensive, others good value.

Where the reviews were read, and what each site discloses
- Software AdviceThe site says: “When our advisors match you to a software provider, we may earn a referral fee.” About half of the 25 reviews on the first page carry the line “This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.”; the others say they were submitted organically.
- CapterraThe page says reviews are “moderated by our Reviews Verification team”. No label about invited or incentivized reviews appeared in the text read. Many of the same reviews, with the same titles, are on Software Advice.
- TrustpilotThe profile is labelled “Unclaimed profile”. One review is not a sample; it is counted only where it repeats a point made on Capterra.
Public reviews on Software Advice and Capterra, each listing 402, and on Trustpilot (1), read 1 October 2026. Most recent read: 1 October 2026.
Figures other sites print, checked against the vendor
None of these is PlanSwift’s current price. Each was read on 1 October 2026 and set against PlanSwift’s own pricing page of the same day, which prints two annual plans, Essential at $2,000 a year and Core at $3,000 a year, and no one-time license. Most of the differences come from a one-time license with paid updates after the first year, a model the pricing page does not describe.

PlanSwift, its own student page · The vendor’s own page: PlanSwift for Students
Contradicted“Standard annual subscription $1,300+ / yr”, set against “Student subscription $250 / yr”
Against the vendor: Contradicts PlanSwift’s pricing page of the same day, whose lowest annual plan is PlanSwift Essential at “$2,000 / year”. The student page also sells a “Full PlanSwift Professional license”, a plan name the pricing page does not use.
Source it names, dates and notes
Not a third party: it is listed here because it prints a standard price that PlanSwift’s pricing page does not.
SoftwareConnect · Software review site: PlanSwift reviews and pricing
Not confirmed“PlanSwift starts at $1,749/one time charge and includes support and updates for the first year.” “Updates and support after the first year are optional and start at $250/license/year.” Its starting-price box shows “$2,000 /year”.
Against the vendor: Not confirmed. PlanSwift’s pricing FAQ says “Essential and Core are annual plans”, and the pricing page contains neither “1,749” nor a one-time or perpetual license. The $2,000 a year matches PlanSwift Essential.
Source it names, dates and notes
One page prints both a one-time price and an annual price. The user reviews it shows are dated 2017 to 2021.
Capterra · Software directory: PlanSwift profile
Partly matches“PlanSwift starts at $2,000/year for the Professional plan, with a free trial available. It includes training plus software updates and support for the first year; after that, support and updates are optional at 300/license/year.”
Against the vendor: Partly confirmed. $2,000 a year matches PlanSwift Essential, but the pricing page names no “Professional” plan, and its FAQ says the annual plan “covers the software, all updates, priority support, and training for the year”, not that updates become optional after the first year. The pricing page does not contain “300/license” or “$300”.
Source it names, dates and notes
The date is the page’s own “Last updated” line; nothing near the price says where it came from or when. Capterra refuses automated browsers, so this entry rests on two separate fetch-tool reads on 1 October 2026 that agree; it was not re-read in a browser.
Reddit, r/estimators · Forum thread: Thread title, as Google showed it
Not confirmed“Wow! PlanSwift is now an annual subscription at $1749 a ...” (the title as Google US showed it, cut off)
Against the vendor: Not confirmed. PlanSwift’s pricing page of 1 October 2026 starts at $2,000 a year and does not contain “1,749”.
Source it names, dates and notes
Only the title was seen, in Google US results on 1 October 2026. Reddit could not be fetched with the tools used for this page, so the thread’s date and context are unknown.
Exayard · Blog on exayard.com: PlanSwift Software Cost: A 2026 Breakdown
Partly matches“roughly $2,000 per user per year, or about $167 per month per seat”
Against the vendor: Partly confirmed. $2,000 a year matches PlanSwift Essential. PlanSwift prints no monthly figure on its pricing page, and it also prints PlanSwift Core at $3,000 a year, which the post does not mention.

What to ask on the demo
Questions the published material leaves open, drawn from the pages above. The answers change the number you will pay or what you will get for it.
- What does Auto Takeoff, the one tool Core adds over Essential, get right and wrong on plans like ours? Run it on one of your own plan sets during the trial, not on a demo file.
- What is the discount on additional seats at our seat count? The pricing page states a discount without a figure, and puts volume pricing at 10 or more licenses.
- What happens to our jobs, templates and assemblies if we do not renew the annual plan?
- We own an older one-time license: what are our options, and what does staying on it cost?
- Is EarthWork Pro’s $349 a year billed in addition to the plan? Does it still need PDF pages converted to TIF before it calculates volumes, as the archived help page says, and which method does it use to compute volumes?
- Which plan is the “Standard annual subscription $1,300+ / yr” on the student page?
- If anyone on the team works on a Mac: what does support cover when PlanSwift runs under Boot Camp or Parallels, the two routes the system requirements give?
